It's been extremely difficult to get Chaz out of bed every morning for school. When he wakes up he acts like a dying old man. Mom, I have a headache, I'm exhausted, I hard slept all night, my legs hurt, my feet hurt. He'll even slither from his bed all the way to the living room. The drama is being played on full blast. LOL.
We lay our kids down at 8pm every night. Then my husband talks with them, read the bible and prays with them. They are usually laid down by 8:30pm. All my kids fall asleep but usually Chaz is the last one. Some nights it's really bad and he'll be awake for a few hours. I have more grace on him since it's so difficult for him. I'll let him use a flashlight and read. However, some night it'll be midnight and he still can't fall asleep. He gets up at 6:45am so he should be exhausted at this point.
Jeff Gold contacted me about his music CD. It was originally intended for Spas and relaxation, but it's also become popular with some children who have Autism and their parents. Well, I had to see for myself so I asked if he could send me a copy. I told Chaz about it and he was really happy to try it. Since it arrived in the mail Chaz has put it on every night. It's becoming a routine for him and one I hope lasts for a long time. I have noticed he is falling asleep easier with the relaxing music playing.
If you visit Jeff Gold's site you'll see lots of reviews of parents of Aspergers kids saying how much this music has help not only their child but the whole household. If you'd rather just get the MP3 download for your child's iPod just click HERE.
My life in the Aspergers lane. Chaz, my 10 year old was diagnosed with Aspergers when he was 5 years old. It explained a lot but I have so much more to learn to help my son. Seeking answers and documenting my journey here. Be the sunshine for your child when they come home with dark clouds hanging over them. Be the rainbow that brings hope by speaking up for them. "Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning." Psalm 30:5

My boys have been asking for a cd player in their room...some of them have trouble falling asleep at night. Same deal here...they go to bed early enough and still...
ooh, definitely something to research! we've been playing Mozart for at least 30 minutes a day, as it has been proved to decrease seizure activity. But I'll definitely have to look into this, thanks for the idea. Never thought of playing something to help my son, Cay, with sleep! He is a horrible sleeper which obv makes the following day so much fun **sarcasm**. Have a good weekend,
